SikaGrout®-214 IN is a high-strength, cement-based, one-component, ready-to-mix non-shrink, pourable and flowable precision grout specially developed for demanding engineering and construction applications. It is a two-stage expanding grout designed to provide reliable load transfer and durable filling beneath machinery, structural supports, base plates and other critical components subjected to static and dynamic loads.

The product is supplied as a dry powder and requires only the addition of clean water before application. Its excellent flow characteristics allow the grout to penetrate and completely fill suitable gaps, cavities and spaces where conventional concrete or mortar may be difficult to place. The formulation provides shrinkage compensation and controlled expansion, helping maintain contact between the grout and the surrounding substrate after hardening.

SikaGrout®-214 IN is particularly suitable for machine foundations, turbine and compressor base plates, pumps, boilers, bearings, anchors, precast concrete column joints, penetrations and post-fixing applications.

Chemical Composition and Structure

SikaGrout®-214 IN is formulated from a carefully selected combination of cement, special additives and aggregates.

Chemical Base:

Portland Cement, Special Additives and Aggregates

Physical Form:

Grey Powder

The product is mixed with a controlled quantity of water to produce a flowable or pourable cementitious grout. Its engineered formulation provides rapid strength development, high final strength and controlled expansion.

The two-stage expansion mechanism helps compensate for initial shrinkage and supports effective contact and load transfer between the grout and the substrate. The product is also designed to provide excellent adhesion to concrete without segregation or bleeding under properly controlled mixing and application conditions.

Working Principle

SikaGrout®-214 IN works through a combination of high-flow cementitious grouting, rapid strength development and controlled expansion.

After mixing with the specified quantity of water, the grout becomes sufficiently fluid to flow into prepared gaps and cavities. The material can be poured into spaces beneath base plates, machinery and structural supports while maintaining continuous contact with the substrate.

During setting, the product provides controlled expansion to compensate for shrinkage. This helps minimise the formation of gaps between the hardened grout and the supported element, thereby improving load transfer.

After curing, the grout develops high compressive and bond strength, allowing it to withstand significant static and dynamic loads.

Mixing Ratio

SikaGrout®-214 IN can be mixed to achieve either flowable or pourable consistency.

Flowable Grout

Water : Powder = 0.15–0.16 by weight

For one 30 kg bag:

Approximately 4.5–4.8 litres of water

Pourable Grout

Water : Powder = 0.14 by weight

For one 30 kg bag:

Approximately 4.2 litres of water

The exact water quantity should be selected according to the required consistency while remaining within Sika’s specified limits. Extra water should not be added, as excessive water can negatively affect grout performance.

Mixing Procedure

For optimum results, SikaGrout®-214 IN should be mixed using a suitable low-speed mixer.

Recommended Procedure:

  1. Place approximately 80–90% of the required clean water into a clean mixing container.
  2. Start mixing slowly using a suitable paddle mixer at less than approximately 500 rpm.
  3. Gradually add the complete bag of SikaGrout®-214 IN powder.
  4. Continue mixing thoroughly for at least 3 minutes.
  5. Add the remaining water gradually to achieve the required consistency.
  6. Do not exceed the maximum specified water quantity.
  7. Allow the mixed grout to stand briefly to release entrapped air where appropriate.
  8. Use the grout within its specified working time.

Sika recommends avoiding continuous mixing equipment and using full bags for consistent results.

Application Procedure

The substrate should be properly prepared before grouting.

Concrete surfaces should be clean, sound and free from dust, oil, grease, laitance, loose particles and other contaminants.

Before application, porous concrete substrates should be brought to a saturated surface dry condition, meaning the surface is damp but free from visible standing or glistening water.

The mixed grout should be poured immediately into the prepared opening while maintaining sufficient pressure head to ensure continuous flow. Air displaced by the grout should be allowed to escape to prevent air pockets and incomplete contact.

For optimum utilisation of the expansion properties, Sika recommends applying the grout as quickly as possible, generally within approximately 15 minutes after mixing.

Layer Thickness

The recommended maximum layer thickness is approximately:

100 mm

For larger gaps or greater thicknesses, properly washed coarse aggregate may be incorporated according to Sika’s recommendations and after suitable trials. Technical advice should be obtained for critical applications.

Temperature Resistance

SikaGrout®-214 IN is designed for applications involving temperatures from above 0°C up to +200°C, subject to the specific application conditions and manufacturer’s recommendations.

This characteristic makes it suitable for certain industrial environments involving machinery and equipment where elevated service temperatures may occur.

Packaging

SikaGrout®-214 IN is supplied in:

30 kg bags

The product should remain in its original, unopened and undamaged packaging until required for use.

Storage Conditions

Store SikaGrout®-214 IN:

  • In a cool and dry location
  • In its original sealed packaging
  • Away from moisture
  • Protected from direct sunlight
