DURABUILD ELASTOMERIC BITUMINOUS COATING Code: D010 is a high-performance waterproofing material formulated from selected grades of bitumen emulsified with water and modified with synthetic rubber polymers. It provides an easy-to-apply, cold-applied waterproof coating that dries to form a seamless, flexible, and durable black waterproof membrane resistant to water penetration.
Recommended Uses
Waterproofing of retaining walls
External surfaces of water tanks
Podium slabs and terrace gardens
Gutters and drainage areas
Protective waterproof membrane for surface dressing
Waterproofing around “J” hooks on asbestos cement roofs
Sewage pipes, STPs, plinths, foundations, and basements
Key Features & Benefits
Eco-friendly formulation; inhibits micro-organism growth
Self-curing system forming a highly impermeable waterproof membrane
Excellent adhesion to most common construction substrates
Polymer modification provides improved UV resistance
Highly flexible with effective crack-bridging capability
Easy brush or roller application
Cold-applied – eliminates heating cost and health hazards
Seamless, joint-free membrane (unlike APP sheets prone to joint leakage)
Application Method
1. Surface Preparation
Ensure surfaces are sound, clean, and free from dust, oil, grease, or loose materials
Repair cracks and depressions using Durabuild Acrylic Polymer Modified Mortar
Lightly moisten the surface with clean water before application
2. Mixing & Application
Prime the surface using Durabuild Elastomeric Bituminous Coating diluted 1:1 with clean water
Allow primer coat to dry completely
Apply two coats of undiluted coating @ 0.50 kg/m² per coat
Apply the second coat at right angles to the first after drying
For areas subjected to higher stress:
Embed non-woven polyester felt over the first coat applied @ 0.75 kg/m² while still wet
Apply mild pressure to remove trapped air
Apply second coat @ 1.0 kg/m² after the first coat dries
3. Protection
Protect freshly applied coating from rain
After final coat dries, protect with 10–15 mm cement-sand plaster (1:4) if required
Precautions & Limitations
Apply two additional coats on corners, joints, gaps, penetrations, and outlets
Do not apply during heavy rain, strong winds, or direct harsh sunlight
Protect coated surface from mechanical damage
Clean tools with water while material is wet; remove mechanically once cured
